PEMRA terminated Geo TV’s licence for 15 days

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory authority (PEMRA) cancelled Geo News transmission for 15 days and imposed penalty of Rs. 10 million on complaint of defence ministry.


According to source Geo News licence cancelled on the complaint of ministry of defence but according government TV, PEMRA terminated Geo news transmission on a complaint filed by ISI.

Decision was taken by newly-appointed chairman Parvez Rathore, in meeting government members were present. Before this private member has announced their decision in their meeting, today meeting with PEMRA was boycott by private members.

It should be cleared that Parvez Rathore appointed by Government yesterday night. Now Parvez Rathore will perform duty as PEMRA chairman, before this he has also performed his duty as CCPO Lahore.
